SEWING/QUILTING HISTORY

My interest in quilting began at age 7 when I used to watch my grandmother, a skilled hand quilter, create magical things on her quilting frame in Hereford, Texas.

As a growing woman, I found that I had a natural talent for sewing and even hand made many of the clothes for my family.  This, however, was more a survival effort than a hobby.

After I finished raising a family and settled into a sane lifestyle with time to do some of the things I had always wanted to, I embarked on the art of hand and machine quilting in earnest.  I have lost count of the hundreds of quilts I have crafted since the mid 1900's, but each had a special meaning and a lot of love went into it.  My husband even lets me hang a few of them around the house.

Another habit I have is really getting involved in things I like, and a couple of the larger community quilting jobs I volunteered for the past few years are:

Quilt Show Chairman, South Bay Quilters Guild, Torrance, CA - 2011

Quilt Show Co-Chairman, Texas Coastal Bend Quilt & Needlework Guild - 2009

Quilt Show Chairman, Texas Coastal Bend Quilt & Needlework Guild - 2011
